In my experience, I have heard countless stories about “how you got to where you are now”. Whether this be a career, a relationship, the state of your home/household, or memories of the good ‘ole times, looking back is human nature. Therefore, try this on for size. Look FORWARD each morning, don’t look back. Look ahead to all you can accomplish today, and then look forward to the simple reward you can hand yourself at the end of the day when all is done. Don’t just pat yourself on the back, REWARD yourself! If this is a night out with the girls, or curling up on the couch with a good book and glass of wine, give this time to yourself so your mind can recharge. Small rewards can provide you with the motivation you need to stop procrastinating and finally get started!
On a side note, if you’re the “honey-due list” type (like myself, ;-)), just remember, if you don’t get it all done, it’s not the end of the world, you still have TOMORROW! Plus, why waste time thinking about what you didn’t get done today when you can enjoy a perfectly nice glass of wine right NOW. Live in the moment, try it out for size, and then reflect on how much lighter you feel throughout your week. By the time the weekend comes along, it truly becomes the WEEKEND ~ not an extra two days in the week to be bogged down by pesky “to-dos”!
